In case you don’t live in Australia, this past week Queensland has been pounded by Cyclone Debbie (I think in the US they are called hurricanes).
I live more than 1000 kilometres from where Cyclone Debbie made landfall, on the tropical north coast near Bowen. As I watched the news on TV, it seemed hard to believe the weather was so bad up north, as I looked out the window at blues skies and sunshine.
It seemed a very long way away from my little neck of the woods.
And yet, within 48 hours, EX Tropical Cyclone Debbie was on my own doorstep and delivering heavy rain, high wind and flooding. It was so bad, that school was cancelled for two days. I don’t think that’s EVER happened before!
Even though I knew it was bad up north, I had no idea that it would hit so hard here in south east Queensland.
I’m sure I wasn’t the only one surprised by the cyclone.
Were you as shocked as I was when it played havoc with our weather here in Brisbane, and down to New South Wales?!
